Austin Pauling, a Life Scout, with Boy Scout Troop 304 from Traer will be launching his Eagle Project, 'Vial of Life" on Tuesday, May 18 in La Porte City at Union High School in the Media Center. Austin hopes he will be able to implement this program in the cedar valley by raising awareness and informing communities.
"Vial of Life' is a charitable non-profit organization based out of Marina Del Ray, California. It is a program that has kits designed to aid paramedics or emergency personnel when responding to a call where the person is unresponsive, or unable to communicate. This kit contains vital information such as: list of medicines, recent EKG, any allergies, living will, and a recent photo. All of this information will help first responders when arriving at the home. Once created, this kit is placed in the same place in everyones home, making it universal. Austin, along with his troop, will be out promoting and raising awareness for his "Vial of Life" project. He will be at the following locations:
Tuesday, May 18 at Union High School Media Center, La Porte City from 5-8pm, Wednesday, May 19 at the Traer Public Library in Traer from 4-7pm, Friday, May 21 at Norma Anders Public Library in Dysart from 4-7pm, Tuesday, May 25 at Allen Hospital Meeting Room 2, in Waterloo from 4-7pm.
During these times he will be handing out kits, answering questions, or helping fill out information as needed. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend.
