The Dysart Development Corporation held its annual meeting on Tuesday, April 6, at the Community Building. The night was an opportunity for the DDC to thank the members of the DDC and also to thank the many volunteers that help to make Dysart "A City on the Grow." The doors opened at 6 p.m. so members could view the displays from the various businesses in the community. Eighty-nine people enjoyed the free soup supper. Dwayne Luze, President of the DDC, called the business meeting to order at 7 p.m. The secretary's report and financial report were presented. Pat Hansen presented a slate of candidates for election to the board. It included Don Lyons, Rita Cranston, Greg Pavelka, and Pam Keidel. An unanimous ballot was cast for these candidates. Reports for the year were given by Don Lyons for the City Council; Lindi Roelofse from the Tama County Economic Development Board; Wanda Petersen representing the business owners; Pat Hansen from the H.A.T. Team; Tom Tierney instructor of the Over-50 Computer classes; Kevin Alpers from the Tree Board; Nancy Havran representing the Wolf Creek Players; Rick Krug spoke on behalf of the Dysart Foundation; and Tim Ruroden, Dysart's Police Chief. Dwayne Luze shared some of the projects and activities the DDC was involved with in 2009 also goals for 2010. Several business owners donated items for the drawing of door prizes which was held at the end of the meeting.
