Margaret F.L. Anderson, 94 of Grand Junction, Colo. died Thursday, March 25, 2010 after several years with Alzheimers disease and terminating with death resulting from effects of stomach/intestinal flu.
Margaret was born to Agnes (Nechanicky) and Joseph Vorba on December 2, 1915. She was raised on a farm in Tama County near Traer and attained grades 1 through 12 education in country schools and Traer High School. She took courses at Iowa State Teachers College at Cedar Falls, and University of Colorado at Boulder and obtained her teaching credentials. After several years of teaching in Iowa, some in one room country schools, she was teaching 4th grade in Toledo Public Schools, when she decided to try other lines of work. The jobs she seemed to enjoy the most were as receptionist/cashier for Stones Restaurant in Marshalltown; part-time sales clerk for Sees Candies in Phoenix, Ariz.; and as a homemaker for Marvin D. Anderson, whom she married on December 27, 1955. Margaret particularly enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, and accompanying Marvin on fishing and camping trips. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Leslie, Joseph, and Robert; a sister Lillian; and one nephew. She is survived by her husband Marvin; sister Audrey; six nieces and one nephew. Marvin and Margaret had no children.
A viewing was held from 6:30 to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, March 30, 2010 Callahan-Edfast Mortuary, with a vigil at 7:00pm. Services were held on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 in Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 26 and H Roads in Grand Junction, Colo. from 1:00 to 2:00pm, with the funeral mass 2:00pm.
Local services will be held on Thursday, April 8, 2010 at 10:30 AM at St. Paul Catholic Church in Traer with burial in the church cemetery. A Rosary will be recited at 9:30 AM that day at the Overton Funeral Home in Traer.
