On Friday, March 12, Union Middle School students were given a performance that many would rarely have opportunity to see thanks to community member Amy Wrobel, teacher and founder of The Piano-Forte Studio in Dysart. Amy talked with community members about the importance of arts in the schools and gained support from the Dysart Development Corporation, the Dysart Lion's Club, and the LaPorte City Lion's Club to sponsor having the Waterloo Cedar Falls Symphony Orchestra Percussion section put on an hour performance for 5th 8th grade students.
"It was such a fun concert with lots of varied repertoire and an opportunity for students and teachers to get up on the stage with the professional musicians and play," said Mrs. Laurie Routt, Dysart Elementary and Union Middle School band director. "Working in these great communities that support arts, as well as other disciplines in our Union School makes my job effortless and a great pleasure. There are many great community members that care deeply about the education of our students to make them well-rounded individuals who will contribute to the communities we live in. I'm so proud to work here!"
