Maxine Heckroth, 86 of Englewood, Fla., died Sunday, February 28, 2010 in Englewood after an extended illness. Services will be held Friday, April 2 at 11 am at the Dysart United Methodist Church by Pastor Chris Ebbers officiating. There will be no visitations. Burial will be at Dysart Cemetery.
Maxine was born in Dike, on July 23, 1923, daughter of Ernest and Dora (Hansen) Jackson. After graduating from Vinton High School, Maxine worked for the telephone company. She married Lester Heckroth on December 23, 1946, in Hiawatha, Kan. Lester and Maxine raised their family in Dysart where Maxine was a devoted homemaker. After Lester's death on February 28, 1983, Maxine stayed in Dysart until relocating to Englewood in 1993. She continued to enjoy family activities, visiting with friends, being a school volunteer, and holding a 62 year membership in the American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include her children Janet Heckroth, Donna Weber, Joanne Lewis, Kendall Heckroth and his wife Kate; grandchildren Justin and Shelby Weber, Andrew and Erin Heckroth; and brother Ralph Jackson. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Lester, her brother Ray Jackson, and her son-in-law David Weber.
Maxine's family was the joy of her life. With her warm smile and kind heart, she was a treasure to all who knew her. She will be greatly missed and forever loved.
