Ryan Michael Blackcloud, 28, rural Tama was sentenced to two, two-year prison terms in Tama County Distrcit Court on March 11 by Judge Mitchell E. Turner.
Blackcloud entered pleas of no contest to the charges of indencent contact with a child and assault to commit sexual abuse on Oct. 30, 2009. He also pled guilty to a charge of introducing a controlled substance into a correctional facility and was fined $315 on that charge. Blackcloud was also fined $625 on each of the other charges.
He was orginally charged on Jan. 11 of last year of sexual assault on a 14-year-old girl against her will and 3rd degree sexual abuse. The charges were filed by Toledo Police Chief Jeff Harnish for the incidents which allegedly occured at a Toledo motel.
The drug charge was filed in a county' attorney's information filed on Jan. 12.
In a news release issued following sentencing, Assistant Tama County Attorney Michael Marquess, who prosecuted the case, said, "I am pleased we were able to finally get justice for the victim and her family. I thank them for their patience and trust, and thank Chief Harnish and his officers for their excellent investigation."
Appeal bond was set in the amount of $12,000.
Ramon Mathias DeMarce, 35, homeless, received a five-year suspended prison term and a $750 fine, both suspended. He was placed on probation for three years to the 6th Judicial District Departmenrt of Correctional Services and authorized to transfer the probation to Minnesota jurisdiction.
DeMarce pled guilty on Dec. 27, 2007 to a charge of delivery of a controlled substance. He was accused of selling two 'hits' of oxycodene, a schedule II controlled substance, to an undercover officer at a Toledo motel on Nov. 30, 2007 by Tama County Deputy Sheriff Bruce Rhoads.
