Tama County Supervisors, Dan Wilkens, Larry Vest and Kendall Jordan, accepted the county budget for fiscal year July 1, 2010 through June 30, 2011, as will be published. The hearing was held at 10:00 a.m. with no dissenters from the public. The grand total of the budget comes to $7,225,282 which is an increase of $17,443 over last year's budget. The second reading of the Huffing Ordinance was at 10:30 a.m. with no one from the public to comment. The third and final reading will be held on March 22, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in the County Supervisor's room. Sixty days after publishing the ordinance will go into effect.
In other business County Engineer Lyle Brehm stated they were using all trucks the county has to haul gravel. This is going on throughout the county so it is not possible to know where every spot is in need. Brehm stated they should call his office if there is a particular troubled area and they would do their best to take care of it. Roger Ochs, Mayor of Chelsea, was present with papers from the DNR concerning the ground where the Chelsea Mini Mart will be. This will be a place for a Credit Card pump. The DNR has stated there is still contamination where the last station was. This will be worked out with the City of Chelsea who now owns the ground. The supervisors signed papers to allow the City of Chelsea to pursue this with the DNR.
Claims paid for the past week came to $182,216.44.
