Nadine J. Wait, 90 of Waterloo, formerly of Hudson died Saturday, February 27, 2010 at Manor Care in Waterloo after an extended illness. Services were held Tuesday, March 2 at Amity Presbyterian Church in rural Reinbeck. Burial will be at a later date at the Grant Township Cemetery in Rural Reinbeck.
Nadine Jeanette Wait was born March 26, 1919 in rural Lincoln, the daughter of William Christopher and Anna Reuman Rodimaker. Nadine attended school in Dinsdale where she graduated in 1936. She was married to Walter Wait in 1937 and they farmed for many years in the Traer and Dinsdale communities. Nadine was a homemaker and also worked at the Reinbeck Nursing Home and Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer. In later years she worked for her daughter Jill at the Dairy Queen in Waterloo. In the past week her health had failed and her death came at Manor Care in Waterloo on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at the age of 90 years. She was an active member of the Amity Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. She also received the Outstanding Senior Presbyterian in 2002. Nadine was an accomplished Poet and was a Distinguished Member of the International Poets and was honored as a Famous Poet for 1996. She also received the Editor's Choice Award for Outstanding Achievement in Poetry which was presented by the National Library of Poetry. She was preceded in death by a brother Roger Rodimaker and husband Walter Wait. She is survived by her daughters; Judy White and husband Chuck of Mooresville, N.C., Jolyn West and her husband Larry Venable of Sarasota, Fla. and Jill Wait of Cedar Falls, 4 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 2 step great grandchildren and one sister Ruby Kruse of Cedar Falls.
