Shirley J. Heath, 82 of Fairfax, formerly of Marengo, died Sunday, February 21, 2010, at her home following a brief illness. Funeral Services were held February 26, 2010 at First United Methodist Church, Marengo with Rev. Katie Z. Dawson officiating. Burial was at the Marengo Cemetery. Memorials may be contributed to the First United Methodist Church, Marengo.
Shirley is survived by her loving husband of 62 years and best friend Gerald; a son David (Patty) of Wylie Texas; two daughters, Cynthia Hubble (Charles) of Cedar Rapids, and Sherri Johnson (Martin) of Traer; four grandchildren, Joel Nelson, Arianne Johnson, Ashley Heath, and Brooke Johnson, and a great-grandson, Alexander Nelson. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Richard Denzler.
Shirley Joyce Denzler was born August 28, 1927 in Marengo, the daughter of Milford and Elta Wilson Denzler. She attended the Iowa County Schools and graduated from Marengo High School in 1945. She attended the University of Iowa, Iowa City for a year, and then was employed by Amana Refrigeration in the accounting department. Shirley married Gerald Heath on May 18, 1947 at the First United Methodist Church in Marengo. She served as a Girl Scout leader for many years. Shirley was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and was a member of TTT. Later after the children were grown, Shirley worked at Rosa's Flowers, Marengo.
