John L. McKinley, Jr. 67 of Hudson died Saturday, January 16, 2010 at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo from cancer. Visitation will be held Friday, January 22 from 4-7 pm at Overton Funeral Home and a memorial gathering one hour prior to services Saturday at the church. Services will be held Saturday, January 23 at 11 am. A private family burial will be held at Buckingham Cemetery prior to services.

John L. McKinley, Jr. was born December 1, 1942 on a rural farm in Geneseo Township the son of John Murray and Mary (Reeves) McKinley. He received his education at Traer Community School. John was united in marriage to Karol Howard on June 18, 1966 at Burton Avenue Baptist Church in Waterloo. He was a hard worker his entire life with having been employed as a truck driver and factory worker. John's hobbies were horses, which included competing at many shows and won many ribbons and trophies. He enjoyed spending time with his horses and creating beautiful woodwork items and doing jigsaw puzzles.

John passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at Allen Memorial Hospital from cancer at the age of 67. He is preceded in death by his mother Mary. John is survived by his wife Karol of Hudson; a son Matt McKinley of New Hampton; 2 daughters: Rachel (Vern) Drewelow of New Hampton and Jennifer Schons of Waterloo; 5 grandchildren: Addam, Taylor, Nicole, Victoria and Brett; his father John McKinley of Rochester, Minn.; 2 brothers: Sam (Carole) McKinley of Omaha, Neb. and Murray McKinley of Rochester, Minn. and 3 sisters: Mary Lois (Morris) Dinsdale of Overland, Kan., Kathryn (Jack) Syhlman of Moravia and Emma Lano of Rochester, Minn. John will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
