Knights Stage Big Comeback At Jesup

December 24, 2009
Dysart Reporter

The 8th grade girls traveled to Shellsburg on Tuesday to face the Vinton Shellsburg Vickettes for two games. The Knights came out strong from the opening tip and dominated the Vickettes 40-26. Bre Bader led the Knights with 13 points, 4 steals and 3 rebounds in a hard played game. Tessa Reiter had 7 points in a well played game. Brenna Allen got on the board with 6 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals in a hard fought game in the paint. Lauren Barz added 5 points and really crashed the boards hard with 11 rebounds in a fine effort. Raini Hilmer and Emily Kuhn each added 4 points for the Knights with Emily grabbing 3 boards as well. Leah Jungling was held scoreless but did pull down 3 rebounds in a good defensive effort. The Knights ran their offense the best they have yet this year, and did some other things well. They are finally starting to use some good floor sense on the court.

In the second game, the Knights fought to a 16-16 tie in overtime. Leah Jungling led the Knights with 8 points and 13 huge rebounds in a hard fought game. Emily Kuhn added 6 points and 4 rebounds while Tessa Reiter chipped in 2 points. Jessica Jacobsen shined on the defensive end with 11 rebounds and a couple of steals in an equally hard fought battle. Maddie LaPaige and Rachel Vaughn also did a nice job on defense with each having a rebound and a steal. The girls did a nice job and are showing improvement.
