Mildred M. Luze, 97 of Dysart, died Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at Sunnycrest Care Center in Dysart of natural causes. Services were held at Zion Lutheran Church in Dysart on December 12 with burial at Dysart Cemetery.

Mildred Mary Luze was born June 13, 1912 in Traer, Iowa the daughter of James and Emma Kvidera Caslavka. She received her education in Clark # 9 country school and later graduated from Traer High School in the Class of 1929. While in school she received her Normal Training Certificate and then taught school in Clark # 9 for two years. On January 10, 1933 she was united in marriage to Roy John Luze at the Zion Lutheran Church in Dysart. Roy and Mildred made their home farming their entire married life, the first being on her uncle's farm for six years. In 1940 they moved to the home farm in Benton County until 1958 when they moved to Dysart and their son Larry moved on the farm. After she moved to town she worked for Ken Brown at the Coast To Coast Store and for 11 years at Colds Super Value. During harvest season she also sorted corn for Pioneer. Mildred was an active member of the Zion Lutheran Church and WELCA having served on various committees and offices. She has been a resident of the Sunnycrest Nursing Center in Dysart where her death came on Tuesday, December 08, 2009 at the age of 97 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Bertha Wiedner and brothers, H.P. Caslavka and Lester Caslavka. She is survived by two sons; Larry (Marcia) Luze of Dysart and Richard ( Diane) Luze of Ballwin, MO, 4 grandchildren Randy (Cassie) Luze, Dysart; Ranae (Rick) Dolleslager, La Porte City; Jenny (Joshua) Wolff, Aplington; and David (Holly) Luze of Ballwin, MO., 11 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.
