Union hosted Grundy Center on July 6, and lost a 3-2 ballgame. Matt Feuerbach took the loss on the mound allowing only four hits and two earned runs while striking out 11. Knights hitters could muster only three hits offensively.
Union got back on track against Jesup the following game with a 6-4 win to finish the conference season at 8-6. Union had a five run fourth inning that featured RBI hits by Garrett Prestemon, Matt Prestemon, Matt Feuerbach, and Jake Reiter. Jake Reiter finished the night with two hits and three RBI's. Nate Bellmyer went the distance scattering 10 hits.
In a varsity doubleheader against South Tama, Union pounded 13 hits in the opener to post a 10-0 win. Matt Feuerbach allowed two hits in the shutout. Matt also provided the big bat in the game with three doubles and three RBI's. Nate Bellmyer had a three for four game with two RBI's, and Eric Jesse went two for two with two RBI's. In the nightcap, it was a pitcher's duel with pitcher Cheyne Reiter on the winning side of a 2-1 game. With the game tied at 1-1 in the fifth inning and a runner on third, rightfielder Ryan DeSousa caught a fly ball and fired a strike to home to nail the runner and end the rally. In the bottom of the seventh, DeSousa reached on a fielder's choice and after moving to second on a wild pitch, he scored the winning run on Cory Feldpouch's liner to right. Union is now 12-12 on the season.
