Union Soccer

July 1, 2009
Dysart Reporter

#On June 11, in a battle of evenly matched teams, the Union Knights came out on top. The match was a tale of two halves, with the Go-Hawks dominating the first half with their strong passing game. They scored around ten minutes into the match and were able to hold that lead into halftime. Half-time gave the Knights the opportunity to regroup and they looked like a different team in the second half. They had plenty of looks at the goal until freshman forward Darian Powell converted with only six minutes left in regulation. Powell's goal was assisted by junior center midfielder Lauren Bauer and it forced the match into overtime. Senior forward Cathy Reiter took advantage of the sudden death scoring, sending Waverly home with a goal less than three minutes into the first overtime period. Result: Union 2-Waverly 1;Season Record: 21-0.
