Union Middle School Band Member Earns Highly Superior at NEIBA Solo Ensemble Contest
Two students from the Union Middle School Band program have each earned a highly superior rating and a gold ribbon at the NEIBA Solo Ensemble Contest on March 31st, 2009.
Marissa LaPage, eighth grade clarinet player and daughter of Michael and Catherine LaPage of Dysart was a recipient of this honor. Marissa performed the clarinet solo "Musette" by Joseph Paulsen. Marissa was accompanied on piano by Mary Aschenbrenner.
Kristen Lowe, seventh grade percussionist and daughter of Tom and Teresa Lowe of Dysart also received the highly superior award. This is the second year Kristen has earned a Highly Superior rating for her solos. Kristen performed a multiple percussion solo entitled "Etude No. 40" by Duane Thamm. Kristen was accompanied on piano by Mary Aschenbrenner.
Marissa and Kristen were chosen from 23 total music events of the day. Only one or two events can qualify for this award. Congratulations to Marissa LaPage and Kristen Lowe for earning this honor.
