The Union girls scored 155.5 points at the Wolverine Track Invitational followed by Jesup with 115, Aplington-Parkersburg 96.5, Hudson 78, New Hartford-Dike 55 Gladbrook-Reinbeck 41 followed by N-U.
The Knights got out to a great start with the 4 x 800 relay winning in 11:24.95 with Darian Davis, Peyton Bockholt, Savannah Jensen and Emily Phillips. The shuttle hurdle relay team placed 3rd with Paige Frost, Katie King, Davis, and Erin Heckroth(1:03.55). Kylie Powell was 2nd in the 100m dash in 14.30. In the Distance medley Union placed second to Jesup with an outstanding final leg from Sam Barz. Sam ran shoulder to shoulder with Lindsey Kite and was edged out at the finish line. Barz ran a 2:27 split in her 800m. Other members of the relay were Mariah Scott, Natalie Hanson and Grace Sparks. In the 400m run Union was first and third with Bockholt and Phillips(1:04.95 and 1:09.51) and the knights were 2nd in the 4 x 200 with Kylie Powell, Heckroth, Frost and Payton Hilton.
In the field events the Knights continued to rack up points with four champs and 48 points. Kylie Powell jumped 15'6 1/2" in the long jump setting a new school record. The old record was held by Megan Larison 15' 1/2" 2003. Peyton Bockholt also had a great night at the high jump leaping into first place with a jump of 4' 10 ". Payton Hilton won the Discus with a throw of 75' and won the shot put throwing 29' 4" followed by Barz with a toss of 27' 10".
The Knights switched back to their running events with a first place finish in the 1500m by Phillips in 5:45.37. Davis was 4th in the 7 flight hurdles and Barz won the 200m in 28.31. In the sprint medley, Union placed 3rd with Marrysa Harkness, Emma Lappe, Grace Sparks and Hilton. Bockholt raced to a second place finish in the 800m in 2:42.9 and in the 4 x 100 the Knights were 4th with Harkness, King, Lappe and Hanson in (1:02.58). UMS closed out the meet with win in the 4 x 400 in 4:44,31 with Sparks, Jensen, Barz and Powell.
