Union girls tennis

April 30, 2009
Dysart Reporter

The Union Knights girls tennis team fell to the NU High Little Panthers 7-2 in NICL Conference play in La Porte City on April 21. NUHS would ride strong singles play to clinch the meet win early. The lone bright spot for Union in singles play was Junior Leigh Crees, who would cruise to her third straight singles win 8-2 over Ana Tallakson. "Leigh has really looked sharp with her groundstrokes and service game. We certainly had our chances, but we were not able to maintain early leads throughout the night. Union would win at #3 doubles as freshmen Sara Jesse and Foreign Exchange student Nadine Steger would win their third straight match of the year by the score of 8-4. "We felt like we can compete with this team, we just need to learn to finish games when we have the lead." Union next travels to Aplington on Friday night to face the always tough AP Falcons.

The Union Knights girls tennis team dropped a NICL conference meet to AP on Friday, April 24. The Falcons dominated the Knights throughout the meet, and would sweep Union 9-0 in tennis action. "AP is tough as they always are. They have great groundstrokes and they played very focused tennis."
