Grant being offered to area high school seniors

The Alpha Psi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society is offering a $250 grant to an area high school senior who intends to pursue a career in education or to an individual who is currently in their first year of study in the field of education. Alpha Psi is a professional organization of women educators from Benton and Tama County who wish to encourage students to pursue careers in the field of education. Applicants must be high school seniors or graduates of Tama or Benton County schools. Interested applicants should submit an essay telling about themselves and why they wish to pursue a teaching career. Financial need should also be addressed in the text of the essay. Applications will be rated by the quality and content of the essay, as well as financial need. Brochures explaining the grant are available from Tama and Benton high school guidance counselors' offices. Essays should be submitted to Carolyn Moe, 610 4th St. PO Box 253, Gladbrook, IA 50635 no later than March 31, or emailed to Roz Stull at stull@n-tama.k12.ia. us. Applicants will be notified of the final selection by May 10.
