HUDSON-Services were held for Esther Ann Kubik, Hudson Monday, March, 23, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waterloo with burial in the Hudson Cemetery. Esther was born April 23, 1923 in Garwin; the daughter of Alfred and Olinda Luethje Woehlk. She married Edward R. Kubik on March 1, 1943 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua; he preceded her in death on April 26, 2007. She was a homemaker and farmed with her husband south of Hudson for more than 50 years. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Waterloo and the Cedar Valley Polka Club. Survived by: one son, Bruce (Kathy Makinster) Kubik of Cedar Rapids; one daughter, Monica (Steve) Caslavka of Hudson; three grandchildren, Amy (Rich) Hasley of Cedar Rapids, Bryan Kubik of Cedar Rapids, Shawn (Ashley) Caslavka of Hudson and four great-grandchildren, Ashley Hasley, Travis Hasley, Emily Kubik and Jayson Kubik.
Preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; one grandson, Chad Kubik; a daughter-in-law, Karen S. Kubik and two brothers, Loren and Leonard Woehlk. A memorial fund has been established. The Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball in charge of arrangements 319-233-3146.
