The Wolf Creek Volleyball Club will be wrapping up its season on March 28, as three teams will be competing in State competition. This season 66 area girls in grades 4-10 participated in AAU volleyball for the Wolf Creek Club. The Wolf Creek Volleyball Club is organized by Union Head Volleyball Coach Joe Schmitz. In addition, 19 area girls in grades 8-11 participated in the Union Volleyball Club organized by Barry Jesse. The Union Volleyball Club competed in USA Volleyball Tournaments. The 15 and under team coached by Barry and Brad Jesse will be competing in Iowa Regionals in Des Moines on April 4 and 5. The Wolf Creek Seventh Grade Black Team coached by Mel Barz will be competing in the State Gold Tournament in Ankeny on March 28. The seventh grade team has qualified twice by winning a six team tournament in Dike on March 7. The seventh graders also came in second in a 10 team tournament held in Osage on March 14. The Wolf Creek eighth grade team coached by Joe Schmitz also qualified for State twice this season. The girls came in second place in a 14 team tournament held in Dike on Feb. 7. The eighth graders then came in first place in an eight team tournament held in Humboldt on March 14. The eighth graders will compete in the State Gold Tournament held in Indianola on March 28. At the high school level, Coaches Brenda Hager and Tiffany Harkness led the girls to two tournament championships. The ninth grade team won a five team tournament in La Porte City on Feb. 8. The tenth grade team placed first in a five team tournament also held in La Porte City on March 14. The tenth grade team will compete in the State Gold Tournament in Marshalltown on March 28. In USA play, the 15 and under team has won two tournaments.
