Union Station Show Choir brings home more “hardware”

March 18, 2009
Dysart Reporter

Union Station, Union High School's select show choir, has again "brought home the hardware". The group was crowned Class 3A runner-up at the Annual Cedar Rapids Jefferson Show Choir Invitational on March 14th out of 10 groups total. Union finished 2nd to an outstanding performance by Benton Community. Union was also awarded the trophy for Best Choreography based on their execution, showmanship, and professionalism. The back-up band for the group was also judged on their performance and also finished 2nd out of 10 groups. Director, Tim J. Mitchell stated, "I was especially pleased with the choreography award because between the students alumni and myself, we create all of our own dance moves. Most show choirs hire a professional to come in and do this for them. It also speaks to the commitment Union students have to really being great performers and knowing how to entertain an audience. This is obvious from the success these students have in all of their fine arts endeavors." You will be able to catch this award-winning group as they perform their last concert of the year in May at Union High School.
