The Elberon American Legion Auxiliary met March 12 with seven members present. PresidentMarne Chalupsky, called the meeting to order. An opening prayer was read by chaplain,Dorothy Hayek. With colors in place, the Pledge of Allegiance was recited and the National Anthem was sung with Pat Sauer at the piano. The Auxiliary Preamble and the Vacant Chair were read. A moment of silence was given for POW/MIA's and deceased.
Officer Roll and the February minutes were read by secretary, Lorraine Vileta. The treasurer's report was presented by treasurer, Wilma Parizek. Membership stands at 51.
Communications read included; a thank you from the Marion Mission Storehouse for the cancelled postage stamps we sent last month, and a letter concerning the April 8 Government Day.
Old Business included Marne reporting on the February Legion meeting which included Elizabeth Ledvina, of Veterans Affairs, reviewing benefits available for our veterans. Marne also reviewed the February 24th Tama County meeting held in Tama.
New business; one pin fine. March 18th bingo at the Veterans Home in Marshalltown. March 21 is the Foreign Food Fair at the Veterans Home with Elberon furnishing eight dozen kolaches. Marne and Lorraine will make the kolaches. April 5th the Elberon Legion will hold their annual breakfast at the community center. The annual Tama County Government Day will be held April 8th in Toledo with county wide government students attending. Betty Prusha will make three dozen cookies for this. April 28th will be the next county meeting in Toledo. Please contact Marne if you, as a member, are interested in attending any of these events.
A card of cheer was signed for Ray Sweet. Membership was reviewed and a possible Auxiliary project discussed.
Marne read "A Minute to Spend" and "Cowboys 10 Commandants".
With no further business a closing prayer was given. "God Bless America" was sung and the meeting adjourned.
The door prize was won by Marne Chalupsky.
A delicious lunch was served by Pat Sauer on a beautifully decorated table for St. Patrick's Day.
