All Union, North Tama, and Vinton-Shellsburg Community School District parents and Community members Students are welcome, but please be aware of the mature nature of the presentation. It is"Internet Beware!" Are your kids safe on the Internet?
It will be held at the Union Middle School auditorium in Dysart on March 24 from 6:30-8:00 p.m.
Internet crime isn't going anywhere so get the facts, the red-flags, and keep children safe online. There are a lot of predators on the Internet talking with students on MSN Messenger, Myspace.com, and Facebook. Lieutenant Kent Smock from the Black Hawk Sheriff's Department finds these predators and arrests them. The information he will share will shock you but will help you monitor what your students may be seeing/doing on the Internet.Viruses can also be picked up from these Internet sites. By just downloading a picture from someone, a predator/credit fraud artist can see every key typed into your computer. No matter what age your child is, if your student uses the Internet, please take the time to come to this free meeting.Sponsored by the Union Middle School Site Council.
Childcare will be available for children 3 years of age and older. This service is free of charge. Staff and students will offer various movies/games/activities for the children. If you are planning on using the childcare, please call Union Middle School at 1-319-476-5100 or 1-800-670-5237 so we can plan for the number of children.
