Union School District, High School Principal
How long at your current Position?
What do you like best about your job? There are several things that I enjoy about my job. First and foremost is that I have the privilege to work with an excellent teaching and support staff everyday that are committed to the students in the Union School District. Our students are a joy to work with, they bring so much energy into the building everyday having the opportunity to watch them learn and grow into young adults is very rewarding. We have so many talented students with a wide array of talents at Union.
What do you dislike most about your job? My only regret is that there are only 24 hours in a day. There is always so much to do and so many things that we would like to do.
One thing that you have learned over the years from your job? Stay committed to the mission & vision of the school district. Everyday is filled with additional tasks, but you need to stay focused on what is important. Challenges come and go.
What changes have you seen in your job since starting?
We have made several changes to the high school with the support of our school board. Our schedule has completely changed and we are offering several new courses each year and are looking to add more courses that carry college credit. This is an excellent opportunity for our students to jump start their post secondary plans. This is a major cost savings to our parents as well.
Family: My wife Stacy and I have been married for 13 years. We have two children, Hunter is in third grade and Tyson is a kindergartner both attend LPC Elementary
Interests/Hobbies outside of work?
I am a First Sergeant in the United Army Reserve, 322 Engineer Company stationed in Decorah, Iowa. I also enjoy short distance triathlons, running, biking, and playing golf.
