Eighth grade girls basketball

February 4, 2009
Dysart Reporter

The 8th grade girls hosted the Warriors from Wapsie Valley on Mon. Jan. 23 in a makeup game at the UMS gym. The reception the Knights gave them was about as frigid as the weather outside as they defeated them 61-7. The Knights were hitting on all cylinders again and played well. Sam Barz showed off some good moves in the paint as she led the Knights with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals in a well played game. Peyton Bockholt and Payton Hilton each had 10 points with 4 and 3 steals respectively in a great effort. Kylie Powell added 8 points with 4 steals in a nice effort directing the offense, and Natalie Hanson had 6 points off the bench in a very nice effort. Emily Phillips and Mariah Scott each added 4 points with Emily having 3 steals and Mariah pulling down 3 rebounds. Both girls played hard and did a fine job. Marrysa Harkness came off the bench to add a bucket in a nice effort, and Katie King added 1 point and 1 rebound for the Knights. Alexis McFarland, Tiera Metzger-Hunter, and Marrisa LaPaige were held scoreless but did a nice job defensively. This moves the Knight's record to 6-2 on the season with a game at Jesup completing their season.
