Feb. 14, 1929

A pretty wedding took place at the Frieden's Evangelical Church in Vinton Wednesday afternoon, February 13, when Miss Wilma M. Scheel became the bride of Johannes O. Mehlert, the Rev. Paul Kitterer of Dysart, pastor of the church, officiated.

Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Collins are the parents of a new daughter, their first child, born Saturday, February 9. Mr. Collins is the Rock Island agent.

Feb. 16, 1939

Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Hoke, residents of Dysart the past 42 years, celebrated their Golden wedding anniversary Sunday.

A nine pound boy was born by caesarian section at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo Saturday to Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Wunder. The young man has not yet been named.

Feb. 10, 1949

Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Koehler of New Hampton are announcing the marriage of their daughter, Eddeth, to Cleone Karr, local trucker. The ceremony was performed Wednesday at the Baptist church in Vinton.

Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Brandau of Sterling, Ill., are the parents of a son born Saturday morning at the Sterling hospital. The infant is the grandson of Kathryn Braudau of Dysart.

Feb. 12, 1959

Mr. and Mrs. John Liddle of Keystone have announced the marriage of their daughter, Jo Anne, to Roger Ray Robinson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Willard Robinson of Dysart.

Mr. and Mrs. Will Landgrebe of Vinton will observe their Golden Wedding anniversary Tuesday, February 17, with an open house at the Dysart Community Building.

Feb. 13, 1969

D-G rolled up a 62-57 thumping over Mid-Iowa Conference leade Wellsburg Friday. The Trojans used a 23 point fourth quarter to win while holding Wellsburg to 11.

Pfc. David W. Bottomley graduated from the Army radio school at Fort Benning, Ga., on January 15. On February 4, he began a 15 week course in advanced radio at Fort Gordon, Ga.

February 15, 1979

Mrs. Marie Kubik celebrated her 109th birthday on February 11, at Sunnycrest Nursing Center in Dysart.

The Dysart-Geneseo School Board, on February 7, accepted the resignation of Ben Corbett who is retiring at the end of this school year after leading D-G girls basketball teams to many seasons of outstanding records. Corbett has taught for 31 years and coached for 29 and in that time, he has accumulated a record of 734 wins and only 258 losses.

Feb. 9, 1989

Announcement is being made of the engagement and approaching marriage of Karen Werner of La Porte City and Tom McLaren of Omaha. A 2 p.m. April 15, wedding is planned at St. Mary's of Mt. Carmel church in Eagle Center.

Carroll and Eileen Mitchell of Waterloo and formerly of Dysart, will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary with a family dinner. They were married February 15, 1964, in Council Bluffs.

Feb. 11, 1999

Mr. and Mrs. Larry Heaton of Cedar Falls and formerly of Dysart, are celebrating their 72nd wedding anniversary with a card shower held in their honor. They were married February 12, 1927, in Elberon.

Darlene Struve of Dysart will celebrate her 80th birthday on Sunday, February 14, with a family dinner out. She will also be honored with a card shower.
