How long at your current position?
What do you like best about your job?
Everyday brings something new. Some days I get to spend time in the classrooms. Other days I may be at a meeting. Two days may never be the same. The days I get to spend time with the students in the classrooms are the best.
What do you dislike most about your job?
Paperwork and discipline. It seems like when I think all the paperwork is complete; something more winds up on my desk. Discipline is part of the job. I just wish some students would make better choices.
One thing you have learned over the years from your job?
Communication can't be stressed enough. Interaction with parents/students and being proactive rather than reactive is so important. Also, expect the unexpected. Just when you think you have seen it all, there is something else.
What changes have you seen in your job since starting?
We have had so many requirements to fit into a school today. We try to fit so many requirements in a day that we are actually taking away time from other important things. A disappointment is how schools are blamed when a student is not showing improvement. Education is a partnership. Students need support at home just as they do in school.
