The 8th grade girls basketball team hosted the Wolverines from Dike New-Hartford on Tues. Jan., 20 in what proved to be a big blowout. The Knights won by a score of 55-9. The Knights were well rested after snow, ice and cold kept the team from recent games and practices. But in spite of the layoff, the Knights responded big in all categories. The team was lead by Kylie Powell's career night of 21 points and 7 steals. Powell played some of her best defense all year and really hustled. Sam Barz also stepped up big with a 13 point, 6 steal and 6 rebound game. Barz also showed a lot of hustle and good defense after missing the last game due to a shoulder injury. Peyton Bockholt and Payton Hilton each had 9 points in great efforts, with Hilton having 6 big boards and 2 steals and Bockholt grabbing 5 steals and 3 boards. Both girls played hard the whole game and showed some of the best hustle all year. Payton Hilton really shined on the offensive boards and had some very nice putbacks. Marissa LaPaige did a nice job getting 2 points and 5 big rebounds in a great effort. Natalie Hanson had 1 point with 4 rebounds and 2 steals in a good game. Emily Phillips and Katie King were held scoreless but did a nice job of creating some offense and played good defense. Emily also had 3 steals and 2 rebounds while Katie had 1 rebound and 1 steal. The girls played well and made some nice adjustments to Dike N-H's zone defense. Coach Rex Raub thought it was one of their best games all year.
